Event technology at Gurgl Carat

High-tech in the high mountains

The German word “Technik” comes from the Greek and literally means "art" or "craft". And so, it also happens that at Gurgl Carat the term event technology means much more than just plug and play. This blog post is about tangled cables and smartphones, about speechless visitors and wordy presentations and about media technology (or should we better call it media art?) at Gurgl Carat. From a purely technical point of view, the ideal blog post if you are still looking for the perfect venue of your next event.

More than just a few cables

It is well known that event technology nowadays is much more than connecting a laptop to a projector. Admittedly, even finding the right cable for a specific connection can be quite tricky. But cables, connections and sockets are only a small part when it comes to state-of-the-art event technology. The basics, so to speak. In addition, there is complex media technology, stage lighting, sound technology, control of audio and video signals for hybrid events, housing technology services and so on. Chapeau to all those who don't get bogged down in a tangle of cables either on site or in their heads.

Backstage

All of the event technology at Gurgl Carat comes together in the control room. From here, the media technology team "behind the scenes" controls what the audience sees on stage. From the projector to the stage lights and the screens outside the hall. Most of the work is done prior to the event to ensure everything runs smoothly on the event day. All technical details are coordinated with the customer in advance. Ideally, the entire process is rehearsed in advance. In this way, possible sources of error are discovered and - if necessary - solutions are found. This combination of state-of-the-art technical equipment and profound know-how is the key to successful events that meet even the highest demands.

There is space for a full-size bus on the 100 m² screen.

A bus in the hall

Most of the visitors just manage to say a surprised “WOW!” before they are entirely speechless. With 100 m² screen space in front of your eyes, it is only too understandable that you are at a loss for words. In fact, you only really understand how big 100 m² are when you stand right in front of them. They are big, really big. So big that a whole bus (full-size, mind you) can fit on it quite easily. So big that even chair number 500 has the same fantastic view of the screen as a seat in the front row.

It gets really spectacular: not only a treat to the eyes awaits you but also the ears will be delighted. Superb acoustics have been installed in the entire Schalfkogel hall, which makes even trained musicians' ears tremble. But not only the hardware is convincing, also the software is first-class. In order to stage the technology for your event perfectly, Gurgl Carat uses a special media server technology. With the help of this media server system, entire control room sequences can be planned, media can be controlled and even live inputs (from camera or laptop, for example) can be smoothly integrated into the process.

What the technology of Gurgl Carat has in common with your smartphone

Now you may be thinking: "That all sounds incredibly exciting, but I just want to plug in my laptop and then my presentation should appear behind me." First things first: that is of course possible. Just as you can simply make a phone call with a smartphone of the latest generation. But the technology at Gurgl Carat can do so much more. Try it once and you won't want to be without it again – that’s a promise. Because even if you use your smartphone mainly for making calls, sooner or later the camera, flashlight, alarm clock, etc. will prove to be useful helpers in everyday life. The technology at Gurgl Carat also makes it easier to present your content. Above all, the other participants will love the professional appearance. And your amazing content will get the stage it deserves.

Why do I need a media server system at my event?

Gurgl Carat has a media server system called "PIXERA". With the help of this software and the hardware installed at Gurgl Carat, you can create production plans and specific projection setups can be generated. Additionally, you also control audio and video signals and process live inputs in real time. Thanks to the mapping function, your content (presentations, videos, images, etc.) can be displayed anywhere on the 100 m² screen. Choose the setup that best showcases your content.

In addition, the media technology team can also support you in planning the entire process. With the help of the media server’s compositing function, your event is already laid out in advance. You determine how long certain images appear on the screen, when the video will be played and which presentation should be shown. Especially when presenting several speakers, it makes the event much easier. You simply hand in the presentations in advance, you schedule the times for presentations and other media feeds and the media technology of Gurgl Carat controls your event behind the scenes. In this way, your event will be tailored precisely to your needs. Uncomplicated and in a professional way, guaranteeing the best outcome.

Best practice: hybrid events at Gurgl Carat

The technology at Gurgl Carat not only amazes spectators on site, but also all participants in front of the screens at hybrid events. Thanks to the media server system, the AMX control center with AV over IP and the full HD webcam in the hall, events can be streamed almost at the touch of a button. In this way, the face-to-face event on site can easily become a digital event with hundreds or thousands of participants. We have already described how a hybrid/digital event can take place at Gurgl Carat on our Carat.Blog. Ultra-modern and high alpine: a real treat

Even if the media technology alone is a pretty good argument for an event at Gurgl Carat, it is above all the combination of high-tech indoors and fabulous nature outdoors that is convincing. Managing Director Felix Kupfer sums up all the advantages of Gurgl Carat:

“Compared to other destinations, Gurgl offers a sensational mix of offers without long distances in between. In addition to countless e-bike tours and hiking trails, there is also a local via ferrata that can be reached without using mountain lifts. But Gurgl also offers a wonderful variety for connoisseurs. (...) Gurgl’s biggest plus is the high quality of hotels (21 four-star hotels in a village with only 400 inhabitants) and the proximity of all accommodations to Gurgl Carat in the village center. Our guests can walk to most hotels in no more than five minutes while the mountain lifts and ski slopes are just 200 meters away.”

It is the overall package that makes the Diamond of the Alps shine so brightly. Gurgl Carat is a hideaway at almost 2000 meters. An "Alpine space for inspiration" as the slogan of the congress center so aptly describes it. Be it because of technology, because of nature or both - one thing is for sure: those who come to Gurgl come to stay.
