Side activity programs in Ötztal
Varied activities
Be it hiking, e-biking, skiing or a visit to the museum - most of the side activity programs at your event take place directly in Gurgl. But it is also worth looking beyond the edge of the village. Ötztal, the valley of natural wonders and three thousand meter high peaks, has a lot to offer. In today's blog post, we present our TOP 5 most popular side activity programs and team building options in Ötztal.
#1 Excursion to the Bike Republic Sölden
The Bike Republic Sölden, founded in 2015 has already become a cult in the mountain bike scene. It’s not surprising due to the variety of trails and lines and above all the breathtaking backdrop of the Ötztal Alps. The pump track and the access point to the downhill course are just 15 driving minutes from Gurgl Carat. You definitely should not miss these side programs in the Bike Republic Sölden:
The Bike Republic Sölden invites you to join a pump track taster course. On the pump track, participants get a feel for the bike, learn how to corner and how to best ride terrain waves by "pumping". A fun-packed alternative to real mountain biking.
Under the instruction of trained instructors you learn correct downhill biking techniques at the beginning before heading out onto the lines and trails. A total of 95 km of lines and trails of several difficulty levels are available. Each course is adapted to the ability and athletic skill of the group.
Mountain biking is not the only thing that is popular in Sölden. Road cycling is also very widespread in the home of the legendary Ötztaler Cycle Marathon. In this course, an original stage of the "Ötztaler" is tackled. Before that, there is a thorough technical training.
Mario Kart in real life! You can race down into the valley on off-road go-karts with three wheels and without motor. Sölden’s mountain cart track is 7.3 kilometers long, has lots of curves and turns and promises lots of fun.
#2 Visit to the Sölsch brewery in Sölden
A side program that will especially appeal to beer lovers. Because the Sölsch brewery will let you take a look beyond the "rim of the bottle". On a brewery tour of the Bäckelar Brewery in Sölden, you will learn how a regional quality product is made at 1,400 meters. Of course, the tour also includes the first taste of the slender and tasty beer brewed using the top-fermented method. Afterwards, the participants can sample 5 different beers in a small beer tasting. As a souvenir to take home, all participants will receive a tray of 4 Sölsch at the end of the program. Cheers!
#3 In the footsteps of James Bond ...
Scenic Ötztal is literally made to measure for shooting a film. In addition to many other productions, the Bond movie 007 SPECTRE was also partly shot in Ötztal - more precisely in Sölden. The James Bond Adventure World at 3,050 meters is a cinematic installation in a class of its own and offers superb views of Sölden’s original SPECTRE filming locations. The halls of the adventure world built right inside the mountain, enchant visitors thanks to countless multimedia effects. Rating: absolutely worth seeing - even for those who are not Bond fans.

#4 Making soaps in Umhausen
If you want to get even more out of your trip to Umhausen, combine soap making with other activities. For example, visit the Stuiben Falls – Tirol’s largest waterfall. Or watch majestic eagles, owls & other birds up close at spectacular flight shows held at the Birds of Prey Park. A piece of history can also be found right next door in the Ötzi Village.

#5 Water action at AREA 47
The wet element! AREA 47 at the entrance to Ötztal is Austria’s largest outdoor adventure park. There is a large Water AREA with slides and diving platforms, a Wake AREA with top-class infrastructure, high ropes course, flying fox & mega swing and many other adventurous highlights. The high ropes course, the 400 meter long zip line (flying fox) or the Wake AREA are perfectly suitable as side activity programs and team building options. Exciting outdoor experiences such as rafting, canyoning or caving are also available. Due to the longer distance to and from Gurgl Carat, it is strongly recommended to schedule this side program at the beginning or end of the event. Therefore a visit to AREA 47 can be combined with the arrival or departure journey.
